ABOUT
Daniela Pinto is a film, TV, and video game composer based in Toronto.
She composed a dark and brooding hybrid orchestral score for the short film DIASPORA (dir. Tyler Mckenzie Evans), which premiered at TIFF 2022 and earned her a Canadian Screen Music Award nomination. She also scored COLD (dir. Liz Whitmere), an unsettling menopause-themed body horror film starring Melanie Scrofano (Wynonna Earp) and nominated for Best Short Film at the 2024 DGC Awards. She created a dynamic ambient synth soundtrack for the video game TRIVERSAL by Phantom Compass. Most recently, Daniela wrote the original score for the television series POTLUCK LADIES (dir. Shazia Javed), which won Best Drama at the SeriesFest Independent Pilot Competition in Denver.
Daniela started learning classical piano when she was 8 years old, and could often be found making her own piano arrangements of her favourite video game and anime songs in her teens. Constantly immersed in storytelling and the creative process, she taught herself composition while studying filmmaking at Sheridan College, and scored over a dozen films by the time she graduated - including a few that she wrote and directed herself.
Daniela is also an accomplished sound editor and a member of the Directors Guild of Canada. She has been part of the sound teams of major feature films and TV series such as CRIMES OF THE FUTURE (dir. David Cronenberg), SORT OF (CBC), MOONHAVEN (AMC+), and INTO THE RISING SUN (Amazon Prime). As a composer fluent in the workflows and tools of post production audio, she brings both creative vision and technical problem-solving skills to every project she works on.
